AKFA University and CBS International Business School of Germany discussed partnership opportunities

Pursuant to the UN Youth 2030 Strategy, the UN Country Team has established the Youth Advisory Board (YAB) to ensure regular and open dialogue between youth and the UN family in Uzbekistan.

The YAB advises the United Nations in Uzbekistan on the integration of youth voices in UN strategies and programmes and hence, contributes to improved youth-friendly programming as well as facilitates the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals. The YAB comprises 15 young people from different regions of Uzbekistan, who represent different social backgrounds and interests. Participation in the UN YAB is on a voluntary basis.

Dr. Bekhzod Abdullaev, Head of the Department of Scientific Development, has been selected as a member of the UN Youth Advisory Board in 2020.

On 17-18 November 2021, the UN Office in Uzbekistan in partnership with Regional Office for Central Asia of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) conducted a training session on the theme “Human Rights and International Approaches to Equality and Non-Discrimination” for YAB in Tashkent, which required two full-day participation of the YAB members.

During the training YAB members were introduced to discrimination, stigmatization, stereotypes, government-citizen rights and responsibilities by international experts, such as Yulia Votslava and Guljakhon Amanova who are human rights lawyer and coordinators of National Program of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). 2 days trainings included several sessions such as “the UN Youth Strategy 2030”, “the Concept of Human Rights”, “International mechanisms of protection in the field of human rights”, “International approaches to equality and non-discrimination”.

The UN Youth Strategy 2030 – acts as an umbrella framework to guide the entire UN as it steps up its work with and for young people across its three pillars – peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development – in all contexts. It seeks to significantly strengthen the UN’s capacity to engage young people and benefit from their views, insights and ideas. It seeks to ensure the UN’s work on youth issues is pursued in a coordinated, coherent and holistic manner. YAB members also decided to act with this strategy and support projects of the United Nations country office during the next decade.

“Human rights shall be secured without discrimination on any ground such as sex, race, colour, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, association with a national minority, property, birth or other status. Akfa university as a leading organization struggles against any type of discrimination and stereotypes and always supports human rights by following the Concept of Human Rights and the Youth Strategy 2030” says Dr. Bekhzod Abdullaev.
