AKFA University to contribute to the development of the higher education system

To achieve high results and achieve the set goals, highly educated and experienced specialists are needed.

In December 2017, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Akfa Medline medical center. During the visit, the head of state gave instructions to establish a university, which will train highly educated specialists. Since that time, work began on the creation of a new university and the process of finding foreign partners.

After negotiations, Gachon University, which is one of the leading universities in the Republic of Korea, was selected as a foreign partner.

Akfa Medline and Gachon University entered into an agreement to assist in the organization of the educational process at AKFA University using advanced pedagogical and information technologies, the latest achievements of science and technology.

On 15 February 2019, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan issued a resolution “On formation of the AKFA University”. Akfa Medline became the founder of the university.

Since the 2019-2020 academic year, the Medical School has been established at AKFA University. From this academic year, the first students were admitted.

The curriculum of the faculty is based on the program of Gachon University. The university has attracted experienced professors and teachers to ensure the quality of education. About 60% of them are foreigners.

Another import point is that about 20 international students are studying at AKFA University. And this is evidence of the high quality of education at our university.

This year, AKFA University opened a new Faculty of Accounting and Finance. The new faculty was created in collaboration with one of the leading UK universities. The admission process is now being completed. Students will start their studies soon.

Despite the fact that AKFA University is private, the university supports talented and thirsty young people. Based on the results, they receive a discount ranging from 10% to 100% from the tuition fee. This privilege is granted for one semester. This encourages students not to relax and work hard. Students will not think: “I’ve all received a grant and now I can relax”. This creates competition among students. In the future, we will continue to work on developing competition among students.

AKFA University has set itself the task of becoming the most prestigious higher education institution in the country. Practical work has begun to achieve this goal.

For the effective and successful work of the university, it is necessary to have a modern campus with all facilities and conditions. Today AKFA University acquired a land plot for the campus construction. Construction work of the campus will commence soon.

The new campus is designed for 10,000 students. There will be modern classrooms and laboratories, a library, sports complexes, a hostel for 3 thousand students and other facilities. The new campus is expected to be commissioned in September 2021.

The new building will create all conditions for the students. In particular, a 600-bed clinic will function here, where students of the Medical School will undergo practical training.

From the 2021-2022 academic year, AKFA University plans to provide young people with educational programs in 12 directions.

The AKFA University administration began practical work to increase the prestige of the university. In particular, AKFA University is working on obtaining international accreditation and rating.

Due to the fact that the university is young, it takes time to obtain accreditation and rating. Despite this, AKFA University employees, with the help of foreign specialists, acquire knowledge and skills on the processes of obtaining accreditation and rating.

A few days ago, the university staff held a video conference call with Michael Caruana, Director of Strategic Solutions at Times Higher Education.

The World University Ranking of Times Higher Education was first published in 2004. The World University Ranking of Times Higher Education-2020 includes about 1400 universities from 92 countries. Now universities of Uzbekistan are not included in this rating.

During the video conference, Michael Caruana shared information about the World University Ranking of Times Higher Education, which is regularly published by Times Higher Education, its methodology and requirements.

Also, the representative of the Times Higher Education gave his advice to AKFA University on entering the World University Ranking of Times Higher Education and to what issues the university should pay attention.

Following the meeting, AKFA University will develop and implement a plan to obtain the international rating until 2026.

If AKFA University successfully passes the accreditation and rating process, this will contribute to the development of the higher education system in our country and increase its prestige. This will create an opportunity to export higher education services to foreign countries.
